CA students preparing for Intermediate or Final while doing articleship face a problem most other aspirants don't: a full working day already claims 8-9 hours before study even begins. The routines that work respect that constraint instead of pretending it doesn't exist.
Protect two fixed study windows
Rather than an unplanned "whenever I'm free" approach, block two non-negotiable windows — early morning before articleship and a longer evening session after. A reserved seat you know is yours removes the friction of finding space at 9pm after a long day at the firm, which is often the real reason the evening session gets skipped.
Practical Training subjects first, in the evening slot
Subjects closest to your daily articleship work (Audit, Accounts, Costing) are easiest to revise right after a related workday — the context is already fresh. Save theory-heavy subjects like Law for the sharper morning window.
- Morning (60-90 min): One theory subject, read + short notes, no distractions.
- Evening (3-4 hours): Practical subjects — problems and case studies, ideally linked to the day's articleship work.
- Weekly: One full mock paper on a rotating subject, timed exactly like the real exam.
Revision cycles matter more than first-read depth
With a syllabus this large, a single deep read followed by three lighter revision passes retains more than one exhaustive read you never revisit. Build revision into the plan from week one — not as an afterthought once the syllabus is "done."
